Things ARE what they are, if Nothing Changes, NOTHING Changes!

1379977864849“It has taken me a very long time to re-realize that: “Things ARE what they are”, you either choose to take a leap of faith and believe situations and living is in the hands of a Higher Power (of your own understanding) and take steps to move forward together to survive, or you choose to let life consume you and eat you alive.”

Like most of the web communities in The C2B Peer-to-Peer Community Support Network this community is about helping people explore themselves, each other, and the world we live in – it’s about acknowledging and supporting each other to make it through the challenges that so many of us silently deal with that impact our daily lives, things that I am learning to deal with personally each day.

One morning I woke up to realize my life had become a totally unmanageable disaster and was quickly crumbling in disorganization and disarray around me. While I put up a good front in public I had pretty much lost my desire to survive, was sliding deeper into isolation, and simply did not see, or care, about what was happening in my own life and home.

Cock roaches and mice had pretty much taken over my apartment, which was so cluttered I could barely move around, and often so dirty one could smell it before I opened the doors that I isolated behind. The bedroom was piled to the ceiling with laundry and flat out junk. I could not even get into the kitchen, and dishes remained piled on the sink, stove, and even in the bathroom – for MONTHS.  Bills and legal matters laid unhandled on my desk and just about any place on might look. I seldom ate, dropped to 112 pounds, and medical and financial assistance appointments were often missed. I lost vehicles, job, and friends and I would isolate in the apartment, often wearing the same clothes, and not taking a shower for days, even a week at a time, and I simply did not care anymore.

How did *I* get this way? That’s what I’m here to acknowledge, share with others who may be on the same path or reached the same point, and help each other move past. It did not just simply happen over night! Simply accepting one’s life has become unmanageable is not enough, it takes a belief that things CAN change, and hard work to move forward to understand recovery IS possible.

Join me as I take a look at myself while I share the road that got me there, back to where I am today, and how I choose to take measures to make a change and a difference in my own life today, and just maybe, YOURS too! We're all here to help each other, come share your stories with others too!
